It’s Talk Money Week – the annual campaign that encourages people to have open conversations about money. In a world where young people are increasingly faced with various financial challenges such as the rising cost of living, debt and scams, it’s essential that they are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to make sound financial decisions.

This year, the theme is ‘Do one thing’ that could help improve financial wellbeing, tell people about it and encourage others to do the same. Whether you decide to talk about pocket money, pensions or financial education, what matters is kicking off the conversation.

This Talk Money Week, we’re delivering financial education to over 2300 young people across the UK,  expanding our work in the North West of England testing our new digital learning platform with partner secondary schools. Keep an eye on our social media channels throughout the week for lots of financial education content. We’ve also created new Talk Money Week free resources to use with 7-14 year olds.

There are many other ways to get involved in Talk Money Week. Here are a few ideas:

  • Talk to children and young people you know about money. Talk to them about how you earn money, how you spend it, and how you save for the future. Help them to understand the importance of budgeting, saving, and spending wisely.
  • Share your own financial experiences with others. This can help to break down the stigma around talking about money.
  • Support organisations like MyBnk that are working to provide financial education to young people.
  • Share the ‘one thing’ you do to improve your financial wellbeing on social and tag in @MyBnk/@MyBnk_(on Instagram and TikTok).

Our Work in the Northwest

We’re proud to announce the opening of our new hub in Manchester. The need for MyBnk in Greater Manchester is clear: with 1 in 4 children living in poverty and 15% of all households living in fuel poverty, we’ll help children and young people manage their money effectively, from budgeting to managing bills and energy efficiency.

Money Ready

Aimed at teachers and young people, Money Ready provides everything needed to deliver engaging and effective financial education through games, videos and activities. It’s designed to be engaging and interactive, with a variety of resources released monthly that contain information on key financial concepts to suit different learning styles and abilities, from budgeting and saving to investing and credit.

This Talk Money Week, we’re testing Money Ready with partner secondary schools. Stay tuned for its official launch.
