MyBnk CEO Leon Ward reflects on the theme for Global Money Week 2023.
I’m delighted that MyBnk will be participating in Global Money Week 2023. We join 176 countries and over 50 million young people supporting the global awareness campaign, which runs from 20-26 March. The campaign emphasises the importance of young people being financially aware and capable, acquiring the skills to be able to manage their money effectively.
This week, our team of expert trainers are delivering financial education sessions to approximately 1,600 young people across the UK, from Scotland to the South Coast, supported by funders including Compare the Market, ABRDN and The Quilter Foundation.
This year’s theme is “plan your money, plant your future”. It focuses on sustainability and encourages young people to consider the impact of their financial decisions on their own financial futures, as well as on others, wider society, and the environment.
With many struggling to afford basic living costs, encouraging young people to plan their money and think about their financial futures and the environment is particularly challenging. But financial education is one important part of the solution.
Through our expert-led sessions delivered in schools and youth groups and our online resources, we support young people to develop their money knowledge and skills, giving them the confidence to make informed financial decisions that positively impact them, both now and in the future.
