We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Sir Roger Gifford, MyBnk patron and former Lord Mayor of London.
Sir Roger played an instrumental role in the work of MyBnk, sharing insights and making introductions to help us grow from a small East London social enterprise to become a leading national financial education charity.
His genial personality was complemented by an incisive mind, always curious and eager to help but disciplined to make sure that we were efficient and focused on outcomes.
Sir Roger strongly believed all young people have the right to a quality financial education to help them make the right choices for their futures. His other passion and legacy, green finance, has greatly advanced the area of climate-linked financial services, using the power of the city to help the future world.
“Sir Roger believed in me when I was a 26-year-old social entrepreneur with the idea for MyBnk. His wisdom and ambitious vision for the democratisation of financial education helped the MyBnk team and I grow into a national organisation reaching over 275,000 young people and mobilising the financial services industry and UK government to invest in this important work.”

Sir Roger’s legacy will live on as our young people grow into financially smart adults who will benefit from a better life.
