Last year, MyBnk was proud to win the London Homelessness Awards with The Money House – a financial education programme aiming to prevent homelessness by empowering young people transitioning into independent living to make smart money choices.
This year, our CEO, Guy Rigden gave a speech at the awards addressing how the £30,000 prize money was used and what it helped us achieve as a charity.
How did winning the Awards help us?
- We increased reach to more young people in London and nationally.
- It gave us credibility – we incorporated our win into discussions and pitches to partner organisations and funders, as proof of the quality and impact of The Money House.
- We developed new delivery partners – local authorities, youth services and charities and new funders to support us and help us expand.
- We are closer to reaching our ambition of becoming the most influential, specialist financial education charity in the UK.
How did we use the prize money?
- Winning the Award helped us open a new Money House in Glasgow and another in Birmingham earlier in the summer.
- In London, we have worked to use our 4 houses in Greenwich, Newham, Westminster and Haringey more intensively.
- We created a video encouraging young people to sign up to The Money House, giving key information of the course and dispelling any concerns about what is involved.
What’s next for The Money House?
- We plan to open in Manchester in May 2023.
- We aim to ensure that The Money House is and remains a ‘preventing homelessness champion’ for years to come.
We would like to thank our Money House funders: Berkeley foundation, PIMCO, JP Morgan, SGN, and Quilter who continue to offer their support, allowing us to make a difference and shape a generation of financially savvy individuals.
A huge congratulations to the winners of the 2022 Awards, Pathway Partnership Programme. We wish them every success and hope the prize helps them go from strength to strength and continue tackling homelessness in the capital.
