Outgoing MyBnk CEO, Guy Rigden thanks Viral Kataria for a decade of service to MyBnk and financial education
I would like to thank Viral Kataria, who recently stepped down from the MyBnk trustee board following a decade of service to our cause. Viral helped us structure safely to become the largest, specialist financial education charity for young people in the UK.
As a specialist in charity law and social finance, Viral supported our Founder and first CEO, Lily Lapenna, with legal insight and experience even before joining the board. He was available to listen, and shared experience, insights and ideas in a kind and thoughtful manner. His guidance helped instil good governance and practice throughout MyBnk from the start. He advised us on our governing document and board structure, steered registration with the Charity Commission and, more recently, with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator.
As a fast-growing charity, MyBnk has experienced a variety of issues and Viral’s advice was invaluable to both Lily and I as CEOs. Viral chaired the Risk Committee, advising on topics such as protecting intellectual property, VAT, policies protecting people and process, service charges and ethical screening.
As we say goodbye to Viral, we’re delighted to welcome Nikki Warden to our trustee board. She brings a wealth of legal experience, specialising in consumer services, and will also chair our Risk Committee
Every charity needs a Viral behind the scenes, making sure we remain ‘straight-up,’ responsible and robust. We will miss him.
Guy Rigden leaves MyBnk at the end of March 2023. We wish Guy the best of luck with his next steps and are thankful for everything he has done for MyBnk and young people during his time as CEO. Leon Ward has now taken over as CEO of MyBnk. Read more here.
