I came across MyBnk when I used to volunteer for a youth organisation called Leaders in Community.
They delivered a Money twist session to young people, I was there just to facilitate, however as the session went along, I became interested on what was being said and decided to get involved myself as this was all too relevant to me!
I realised I was not the only young person who didn’t have any sort of financial education and their cause turned my head big time. I’d heard about an apprenticeship scheme at MyBnk and jumped at the chance.
Five months later, my organisation skills have gone up by at least 267%, I have become more mature (dunnoe, family comment?!) and I picked up a range of new skills and knowledge.
I currently sit on the Operations team as Apprentice Operations Officer.
My duties include; accounting, ordering office equipment/stationary, taking care of logistics, updating databases and many more!
I already feel like I am contributing towards the MyBnk mission and feel valued as a team member; this all actually helps and motivates me with one of humans most known struggle – waking up in the morning!
I realised employers these days want more experience than qualifications, So I thought, why not do both?
An apprenticeship is perfect for this. Grab a young person, shake them (not too hard) and tell them to get on this. An apprenticeship is a real no brainer, you earn as you learn!
